Witness in Netanyahu corruption trial killed in aircraft crash one minute before Samos airport landing

Israeli media have revealed the identity of the two passengers in a Cessna aircraft who died after the plane crashed yesterday into the just one minute before it was to land at the Samos airport.

The victims, according to the Times of Israel were Haim Geron, a witness in the Netanyahu corruption trials, and his wife Esti. They were the only passengers on the plane.

The 38-year-old was arrested on Sunday on the eastern Aegean island of Samos. He faces charges of aggravated rape, repeated seduction and misconduct.

A building whose partial collapse resulted in the deaths of two teenagers during the 7 magnitude earthquake that rattled the eastern Aegean island of Samos on October 30 was demolished on Friday by municipal bulldozers.

The two students, Klairi and Aris, had been walking past the building in Vathi when the earthquake struck, causing a wall to collapse and crush them.

Lower VAT rate extended for five islands until June 2021

A lower VAT rate introduced by the government for the five Greek islands mostly affected by migration has been extended until June 2021, the government announced on Friday.

The measure is applicable in Lesvos, Chios, Samos, Leros and Kos and was included in a joint ministerial decision, the migration ministry said.
