İzmir to host international ‘Congress for Future’s Economy’
The İzmir Metropolitan Municipality will organize an international economy meeting next month, which is dedicated to Türkiye's first economy congress held in İzmir a century ago.
"The Economy Congress of the Second Century will convene between Feb. 15 and 21, and the roadmap of the new century's economy will be shared with the nation," İzmir Mayor Tunç Soyer said on Jan. 19.
113 migrants pushed back by Greece rescued
Some 113 immigrants pushed into Turkish territorial waters by Greek authorities have been rescued off the Aegean province of İzmir.
Turkish Coast Guard Command teams were dispatched to the regions upon the information that there were immigrants in life rafts off İzmir's Dikili, Seferihisar and Çeşme districts at different times on Jan. 1 and 2.

The number of irregular migrants caught in Turkey's seas and migrant movement have increased since the start of the year this year compared to the same period of 2021, data from the country's Coast Guard have shown.
Over 50 migrants pushed back in Aegean rescued
Turkish Coast Guard units rescued 52 migrants off the coast of İzmir province after they were pushed back by Greek authorities.
The Coast Guard Command said on Feb. 15 in a statement they learned that there was a group of migrants in life rafts off Dikili, Seferihisar, Foça and Çeşme districts and dispatched units to the areas.

Turkey rescues 388 asylum seekers after Greek pushback
Between July 17 and July 22, Turkish Coast Guard units in the Aegean Izmir province rescued 388 asylum seekers illegally pushed back to Turkey's territorial waters by Greek forces, authorities said on July 26.
Strigilis of ancient age at İzmir museum
The scraping tool "strigilis," which has been found during the excavations in the ancient city of Teos in the Seferihisar district of İzmir and was once used to clean the bodies of gladiators and athletes from oil and sand about 2,300 years ago, has been put on display at the İzmir Archaeology Museum.

4.8 Magnitude Earthquake Was Registered in Izmir
Earthquake with a 4.8 magnitude on the Richter scale was registered earlier today in Izmir province. The earthquake occurred at 11:39 a.m.
The epicentre of the quake was about at a depth of 18.5 km near Seferihisar city, located near the Kusadasi Bay, Izmir Region, BNR reported.
