Eight soldiers wounded in car accident in Turkey's south

Eight soldiers were wounded when a military minibus toppled in the southern province of Adana on June 2. 

Soldiers off from the Kozan District Gendarmerie Command in order to intervene in an incident, but the minibus toppled when the driver lost control of the vehicle and hit a tree on the side of the road. 

The wounded were taken to the Kozan State Hospital.

53 detained across Turkey in huge anti-prostitution operation

Security forces on May 12 conducted a major operation targeting administrators and members of escort websites in 13 provinces across Turkey, detaining a total of 53 suspects, Doğan News Agency has reported.

Earlier, detention warrants for a total of 731 suspects had been issued for allegedly being member of the escort website and engaged in prostitution. 

Man kills five family members after they disapproved his marriage in Turkey's Adana

A man in the southern province of Adana shot five of his relatives dead after they disapproved his marriage, later killing himself after informing the police on May 3, Doğan News Agency has reported.

Denizhan Dener, a 38-year-old medical personnel, invited his relatives to Adana's Seyhan district for a ceremony where he would ask his girlfriend's family for her hand in marriage.   

Historical houses face destruction due to road enlargement in Turkey's south

Historical houses in the southern province of Kahramanmaraş are facing destruction due to a road enlargement project, despite officially being protected by regulations. 

The demolition of the houses in the Turan neighborhood has started despite the area being an urban protected area and the fact that houses were officially registered. 

Investigation launched into GMO material found in bread in Turkey's south

An investigation was launched into a case in which bread with genetically modified organisms (GMO) was found in the southern province of Adana on March 21. 

The Adana Chief Public Prosecutor's Office launched the investigation after daily Hürriyet reported that GMO soy was found in the bread's preservatives that are produced by a company in the province.

Fisherman catches Kalashnikov rather than fish in Turkey's Adana

A fisherman in the southern province of Adana was surprised after he caught a Kalashnikov rather than a fish on March 14, Doğan News Agency has reported. 

The amateur fisherman, Bahri Zeydanlı, lives in Adana's Sinanpaşa neighborhood and went fishing at a river in the Seyhan district around noon.

'Swinger gang' members get up to 33 years in jail in Turkey's Adana

A court in the southern province of Adana has given jail sentences of between two and 33 years to 19 convicts for "establishing a criminal organization," "membership of a criminal organization," and "vulgarity and prostitution" Doğan News Agency has reported.  

Ten of the 29 suspects tried in the case were acquitted in the hearing on Feb. 27.
