Cancer patients say Covid infections influx causing delays in treatment
Ljubljana – The umbrella organisation representing cancer patients in Slovenia, Onko Net, expressed grave concern in the face of fast growing coronavirus infections in the country, which has already started causing delays in cancer treatments at some hospitals. They urge those in charge to take action.
Golnik clinic tracks progress in lung cancer treatment
Golnik – The Golnik Clinic of Respiratory and Allergic Diseases is one of Slovenia’s main lung cancer treatment facilities, diagnosing about 40% of some 1,500 new cases of the disease that get detected in the country every year. Its register of patients shows encouraging progress in treatment in the past decade.

Turkish popstar survives breast cancer
Turkish popstar Hande Yener has announced that she was diagnosed with breast cancer last year, but she recovered and survived the disease as a result of a surgical operation and a period of treatment.
Noting that she felt a mass in her breast one day while sitting at home, Yener said that she went to a hospital to get it checked and later learned that she had cancer.

Doctors urge cancer patients to get vaccinated
A top Turkish oncologist has urged cancer patients to get vaccinated against COVID-19.
Speaking to Anadolu Agency, Gökhan Özyiğit, the head of the Turkish Radiation Oncology Association, said that their biggest concern is cases of advanced-stage cancer and cancer-related deaths will rise significantly in the coming years.
