Vitosha Blvd in Bulgaria's Sofia Ranks World's 54th Most Expensive Retail Location 

Vitosha Boulevard in Bulgaria's capital Sofia ranks 54th among the 65 most expensive retail locations in the world, according to Cushman & Wakefield's 2015/2016 report Main Streets Across the World.

With its EUR 528 per square meter (sq.m.) annual rent, Vitosha Boulevard goes down two positions compared to the 2014/2015 edition of the report.

World Film Stars Appear in New Commercial Promoting Bulgaria

World-famous film stars appear in a new commercial promoting Bulgaria as a tourist destination, the Tourism Ministry in Sofia announced on Sunday.

The commercial has been produced by Sofia-based Nu Boyana Film Studios with no funding from the government, Tourism Minister Nikolina Angelkova said at a presentation of the video in Sofia.

Sofia Registers 5.7% More Tourists in January-June 2015

There have been at least 485 200 tourists arriving in Bulgaria's capital Sofia over the first six months of this year.

This is 5.7% up compared to 2014, official data shows.

Some 284 000 of them were non-Bulgarian citizens, while the rest came from the country, the Bulgarian News Agency reports, citing a state-owned tourism company.

Sofia Secures Funding for Twelve New Metro Stations on Planned Third Line

The Bulgarian capital has secured funding for the construction of twelve new stations on the projected third line of the underground.

This was announced by the director of the municipal company Metropolitan Stoyan Bratoev, who together with the mayor of Sofia Yordanka Fandakova inspected the construction of the Vitosha station in the Hladilnika neighbourhood on Thursday.

Grand Kanyon Project Worth BGN 120 M to Be Launched in Sofia

The Bulgarian Council of Ministers has now approved a project-memorandum of collaboration between the government and investor Garanti Koza Bulgaria.

The document was regarding the project named Grand Kanyon - Sofia.

A large-scale tourism and recreational complex is to be built in the Sofia neighborhood Mladost on territories owned by the Turkish company.

Bulgarians are celebrating the 120thanniversary of the tourist movement in the country with an ascent of the highest peak of mountain Vitosha - Cherni Vrah on Saturday.

The participants in the second mass ascent "In the footsteps of Aleko" will also mark the 152ndanniversary of writer and founder of the tourist movement in Bulgaria Aleko Konstantinov, Darik radio reports.

Bus Carrying Children Suffers Minor Accident in Vitosha Mountain

A bus carrying children suffered a minor traffic accident on its way down from the Aleko chalet in the Vitosha Mountain to Sofia's Dragalevtsi residential district.

Nobody was injured in the accident.

Slightly after 10 am on Saturday, the bus, which had not been equipped with tire chains, hit a tree, according to the press office of the Interior Ministry.
