Arrest made in ‘Revenge Partnership’ terrorist group case
A 38-year-old man, wanted on charges of participating in a terrorist organization, has been arrested by police authorities.
The arrest occurred Monday afternoon in the Peloponnesian city of Patras, with personnel from the Counterterrorism Unit and the Patras Security Sub-Directorate involved.
Moderately strong quake hits off western Peloponnese
An earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 5.7 has struck southern Greece off the coast of the western Peloponnese.
There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries from the quake, which was also felt in the Greek capital and as far away as the southern island of Crete.
Student electrocuted after handling school’s security lighting
A 17-year-old pupil was electrocuted on Wednesday after he came into contact with a light fixture located in the staircase of his school in Patras, western Greece.
After the incident, the student was examined at a local hospital and on Thursday he returned to school.
Police apprehend dozens during Patras Carnival security measures
Heightened security measures are underway at the carnival celebration in the city of Patras, northern Peloponnese, with continuous police checks aimed at preventing thefts, drug trafficking and combating smuggling.
Soccer fans held in custody in Rhodes
Twenty-five soccer fans from the western Peloponnese port city of Patras faced a magistrate on the southeastern Aegean island of Rhodes on Monday over clashes at a match the previous day.
The suspects are to be held in custody until they face a judge on Wednesday.

Moderate quakes rattle the city of Patra, western Greece
An earthquake rattled the city of Patra and other areas in the Achaia region, western Greece at approximately 11.25 a.m. on Sunday.
According to the Geodynamic Institute of the National Observatory of Athens, the earthquake had a 3.2 magnitude and its epicenter was located 13 kilometers south of Kato Achaia town, Peloponnese.

According to the National Observatory of Athens weather unit Meteo, the Greek capital, Athens, as well as the cities of Thessaloniki and Larissa, are expected to experience extremely high temperatures in the coming days, posing potential health risks.
