Spanish National Ballet first time in Belgrade

BELGRADE - The Spanish National Ballet arrived in Belgrade where it will for the first time stage a spectacular flamenco show on Friday evening.

We have come to Belgrade for the first time and we are very proud that we will dance before your audience. We hope that the audience will love our pieces - flamenco and Spanish dance, Director of the Spanish National Ballet Antonio Najarro told reporters.

The most renowned Spanish dance company in the world will present two of their latest productions - the famous "Suite Sevilla" choreographed by the company's art director Antonio Najarro and "Grito", by choreographer Antonio Canales.

The show will involve 50 dancers and 10 musicians.

Flamenco-lovers will be able to see more than 400 elaborate costumes that give a special thrill to the show. Some dresses weigh nearly 15 kilograms due to long veils and numerous folds.

The guest performance in Belgrade has been supported by the Spanish Embassy in Belgrade and the Cervantes Institute.

The Spanish National Ballet was founded by Spain's Ministry of Culture in 1978, and the troupe has received numerous international awards.
