RSD 2 billion for expropriation in 2014

BELGRADE - A total of RSD 2 billion will be earmarked for expropriation of land along Corridors 10 and 11 in 2014, so the process will not hinder construction works, Corridors of Serbia Director Dmitar Djurovic said on Saturday.

That will clear the ground for contractors to operate in high gear during this construction season, Djurovic told Tanjug, and noted that RSD 1.5 billion have been spent for expropriation purposes by June 17.

Noting that a languid expropriation process and poor projects were mostly the reasons for Serbia's slow drawdown on the granted loans in previous years, Djurovic said that the smooth expropriation is the most important prerequisite for realization of infrastructure projects.
“In 2011 and 2012, small funds were allocated for expropriation, and the main condition for a project to be completed on time is to open construction works with the solved expropriation issue and projects in which deviations are not bigger than +/- 3 percent,” the director said.

According to Djurovic, the ministry of finance is delivering on the agreement, and paying out the funds earmarked in the budget for that purpose.
“We expect that this year all problems on Corridors 10 and 11 will be solved,” Djurovic added.
As announced earlier, around 50 km of highway should be built over the course of this year.
