Photo credit (c): LIVIU SOVA / PHOTO STREAM * The Central Electoral Bureau (BEC) has approved all 14 candidacies for president in this November's polls, BEC spokesperson Marian Muhulet told AGERPRES on Wednesday evening.The following have submitted their candidacy: Victor Ponta, from the PSD-PC-UNPR Alliance (the Social Democratic Party, the Conservative Party, the National Union for Romania's Progress), Klaus Johannis (the Christian-Liberal Alliance), Calin Popescu-Tariceanu (the Liberal Reforming Party), Elena Udrea (People's Movement Party), Kelemen Hunor (the Hungarian Democratic Union of Romania), Dan Diaconescu (People's Party — Dan Diaconescu), Constantin Rotaru (the Socialist Alliance Party), Corneliu Vadim Tudor (the Greater Romania Party), William Branza (the Romanian Ecological Party), Mirel Mircea Amaritei (Prodemo) and Szilagyi Zsolt, from the Hungarian People's Party of Transylvania.

Prime Minister Victor Ponta met US Department of State Assistant Secretary Victoria Nuland on Wednesday. The two officials discussed the consolidation of the strategic partnership between Romania and the United States, the Government informed in a press release. 'Another topic on this occasion was the concrete support of Romania for the international coalition against the Islamic State. Victor Ponta strongly and unequivocally condemned the terrorist acts of the Islamic State Group; coordinated efforts are necessary on the regional and international levels to eradicate this organization that seriously threatens the stability and peace in the region,' the document mentions.

*Romanian Foreign Affairs Minister Titus Corlatean and his Singaporean counterpart Kasiviswanathan Shanmugam in New York on Wednesday agreed to relaunch the bilateral relations. A release of the Foreign Affairs Ministry (MAE) informed AGERPRES on Wednesday that the parties voiced their wish to develop the intergovernmental political dialogue, and agreed to prepare a visit on foreign ministry level in the near future.
