The Liberal Reformist Party (PLR) chairman Calin Popescu-Tariceanu says the vote by correspondence will make it easier for the Romanians living abroad to exercise this constitutional right and such a voting system will be probably used in the future.

'If we see that (the taken measures — editor's note) are not sufficient, then a legal modification will be necessary. It is probable that in the future we will have to use the voting by correspondence and thus the hindrance relating the physical location of the polling station in a certain city, for those who live far from that city will be dropped', Tariceanu told public television TVR 1 on Wednesday.

He added it is a must that the shortcomings seen in the first round of the presidential elections in the polling stations from abroad should be resolved.

'It is compulsory to resolve such shortcomings because the diaspora Romanians' wish that such problems be resolved is natural and legitimate. One of the reasons for the slow voting process is the requirement to fill in the declaration on the voter's own responsibility. Given that there was a significantly higher number of voters that at the previous elections, measures have been taken to increase the number of the polling stations. I hope this process is conducted correctly and allows all Romanians to vote', the Senate speaker stressed.AGERPRES
