BEC - partial results: Iohannis 54.81 pct, Ponta 45.18 pct

Christian Liberal Alliance's candidate Klaus Iohannis got 54.81 percent in the second round of the presidential elections on Sunday, while incumbent Prime Minister Victor Ponta, the candidate of the Social Democratic Party - National Union for Romania's Progress - Conservative Party alliance got 45.18 percent of the votes.

Klaus Iohannis obtained 4,881,140 votes, and Victor Ponta got 4,023,545 votes according to partial data released on Monday morning by the Central Electoral Bureau (BEC), that were collected from 14,425 polling stations, accounting for 76.53 percent of all polling places.

By 3:00 a.m., BEC had received data from Bistrita-Nasaud, Brasov, Braila, Calarasi, Dambovita, Galati, Ialomita, Mures, Salaj counties and Bucharest's district 2.

Olt (27.24 pct), Timis (43.45 pct), Bacau (44.77 pct), Constanta (47.28 pct) and Suceava (48.28 pct) are among the counties which record delays in reporting the data.

Likewise, data from 208 polling stations from abroad were centralised, counting for 70.74 pct of the total.

BEC will issue the next official release on partial results at 9:00 a.m., on Monday morning, with data received by 7:00 a.m..AGERPRES
