Sinaia to host World Snow Day festival for the first time

The picturesque mountain resort of Sinaia will host this Sunday its first World Snow Day celebration, with the event including free ski lessons for children, prize contests and educational activities with and about snow.

According to a Sinaia City Hall release, World Snow Day 2015 ? now at its fourth edition ? is celebrated in more than 500 mountain resorts in 43 countries; the event was initiated by the International Ski Federation in order to promote all things snow around the world simultaneously, as a healthy and beneficial leisure activity, especially for young people.

The venue of the Sinaia events will be the Gondola lift 1 ? New slope that will see free ski lessons for children offered by the resort's ski schools, prize ski contests, snow games, competitions and educational activities with and about snow.

"We decided to offer this day to the children who don't have all the time the opportunity to ski. Twenty children will receive free lessons and equipment from the best monitors in the city. We will continue to organize in Sinaia events promoting the concept of outdoor exercising as a driver for health and wellbeing," city mayor Vlad Oprea said in the release. AGERPRES
