Deflation in Bulgaria Measures 0.2 % in July

The index of consumer prices in July stood at 99.8 % compared to June, meaning that there was a monthly deflation of 0.2 %.

The deflation since the beginning of the year has stood at 0.3 %, while the annual inflation was 0.2 %.

This is revealed by the latest figures of the National Statistical Institute (NSI), which were released on Wednesday.

Compared to June there was a decrease in the prices of the following goods and services in July: foods and soft drinks (1 %), alcohol and tobacco products (0.1%), clothing and shoes (2.7 %), dwellings and utility bills (0.2 %), healthcare (0.4 %) and messages (0.1 %).

The prices of the following goods and services increased in July: home furniture, domestic appliances and maintenance (0.6 %), transport (0.6 %), entertainment and culture (4.5 %), restaurants and hotels (0.8 %) and other goods and services (0.4 %).

The prices of education retained their levels from June.

In July, there was a decrease in the prices of the followings foods and drinks: flour, bread, pasta, pork meat, cattle meat, white cheese, yellow cheese, quark, margarine, peaches and apricots, tomatoes, cabbage, peppers, onion, carrots, olives, mushrooms, potatoes, beans, fresh vegetable herbs, vinegar, coffee, beer and rakia.

The prices of the following foods and drinks increase in July: poultry meat, fresh and frozen fish, eggs, yoghurt, sunflower oil, apples, citrus fruits, cucumbers, garlic, lentils, sugar, ice cream, mineral water and soft drinks.

As regards other goods and services, there was a decrease in the prices of clothing and shoes, repair and maintenance materials, fuels for home use, air conditioners, cookers, TV sets, washing liquids, diesel fuel and personal computers.
