Greek National Opera presents Puccini’s ‘Madama Butterfly’

The Greek National Opera’s production of Giacomo Puccini’s “Madama Butterfly” had its opening night in Athens on Sunday.

Performances will continue at the ‘Megaron’ Athens Concert Hall until January 27.

The story of the tragic love affair between the 15-year-old geisha Cio-Cio San and B. F. Pinkerton, an officer of the American Navy, unfolds on the stage in a great production with a cast of internationally renowned artists.

The leading role Cio-Cio-san is sung by sopranos Tselia Kostea and Rafaella Angeletti on alternate nights , while the opera is directed by Nikos Petropoulos.
