Wanderson hat-trick knocks Red Star out of Champions League qualifying

BELGRADE - Red Star Belgrade have failed to reach the third round of the UEFA Champions League qualifiers following a 4-2 defeat at home to Bulgarian side Ludogorets Razgrad in Tuesday's second leg after extra time.

At a sold-out Rajko Mitic Stadium, Red Star took the lead thanks to a Mitchell Donald goal in the 17th minute, but the visitors turned the match around by half-time through goals from Jonathan Cafu and Wanderson Farias in the 24th and the 40th minute, with Luis Ibanez taking Red Star to extra time with a penalty goal in the 62nd minute.

Wanderson scored two more goals in the 92nd and 97th minute to send the Bulgarian champions to the next qualifying round.

The two teams had played to a 2-2 draw in the first leg in Razgrad last week.

Red Star will continue their European campaign in the UEFA Europa League play-offs later this month.
