Nikos Pappas Vs Greek Journalists in New York

An episode occurred between the Minister of State Nikos Pappas and two journalists who work for TV channels Alpha and Star in New York. Mr Pappas is there for the 71st United Nations General Assembly that starts on Monday. At 2 o’clock in the night American policemen arrested the two reporters outside the Westing Grand Central Hotel . The journalists are said to have been watching the Minister of State in disguise and to have faked a signature of the government’s crew member, George Christoforidis, in order to charge him with a small meal. A source said that the police suspected them because they were seen taking pictures of the Greek leading Party’s crew.
The names of the reporters are Dimitris Soultogianns and Thanos Dimadis.

Colleagues from the tv stations that the two reporters work for, refused that the they were disguised but insisted that they were outside the hotel where the Government’s crew is staying, in order to complete their report on the Government’s visit in New York.
Nikos Pappas said that “it is obvious that the responsibility of these journalists who decided to do this nastiness is huge, even if it’s calling for hilarity. The responsibility of those who made them do such a thing is even bigger”.

On the other hand, the two journalists said that these accusations are at least funny.
Dimitris Soultogiannis said that they were covering the Government’s visit in New York and that they did in fact go to the hotel where the members of their crew are staying, in order to take information about their agenda in the States. “As I can see, this bothered their guards who then called the Police”.
Thanos Dimadis on his behalf admitted that he did wear a wig, so that nobody would recognize him, but he had to find out what the Minster’s agenda would be for the days to come. “My job is not about taking what they give me but to find out more”.
