Earthquake measuring 3.1 on Richter scale in Buzau County on Tuesday morning

An earthquake measuring 3.1 on the Richter scale occurred at 3:14 hrs on Tuesday morning in Buzau County, Vrancea seismic area, according to the National Research-Development for Earth Physics Institute (INFP).

The earthquake occurred at a depth of 108 kilometers, and the closest places to the epicentre were: Nehoiu (7 kilometers), Intorsura Buzaului (32 kilometers), Valenii de Munte (38 kilometers), Covasna (39 kilometers) and Slanic (42 kilometers).

In April, in Romania, there were six earthquakes with a magnitude of 2.3 to 3.5 on the Richter scale, most of them being recorded in the Vrancea seismic zone.

This year, the strongest earthquake, measuring 4.6 on the Richter scale, occurred on March 14 in Vrancea County, at a depth of 139 kilometers.

In 2017, the strongest earthquake in the country was recorded on February 8, in Buzau County at 17:08 hrs, and it had a magnitude of 5 on Richter, the earthquake being felt in Bucharest.
