There are 95 ‘green charging stations’ in Türkiye

Türkiye's electric vehicle market is expanding very fast that leads to a stiff competition among companies operating charging stations at a time when consumers are becoming more environmentally conscious.

Consumers want the energy which powers their electric vehicles to be produced with clean resources such as wind and solar.

The Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EPDK) has started to release data on "green charging stations" to help motorists who want to go for cleaner options when they charge their cars.

According to the data from the regulator, there are 95 green charging stations across the country, which corresponded to only 1.6 percent of all charging stations available in Türkiye.

There are more than 5,600 charging stations in Türkiye, show the numbers from the EPDK.

Trugo operates 59 green charging stations, taking the lead in this category, followed by Eşarj at 25 such stations.

ZES comes third with six green charging stations.

Green charging stations are available in 46 of 81 provinces in Türkiye, with Istanbul topping the list with 14 green stations.

The capital Ankara has 10 green stations. The industrial city of Kocaeli and the Central Anatolian province of Konya have six green charging stations each.

Last year, a total of 72,179 electric vehicles were sold in Türkiye, marking a staggering 833 percent increase from 2022.

Electric vehicles accounted for 7.5 percent of all vehicles sold in 2023, up from a 1.3 percent share recorded in the previous year.
