Schools to open in phases, with alternating classes, distancing

As the authorities scramble to hammer out the details of a gradual easing of restrictions introduced last month to curb the spread of the coronavirus, Education Minister Niki Kerameus on Wednesday unveiled a model for the operation of schools that foresees alternating classes and social distancing.

Exarchia drug gang smashed

A gang that sold drugs in the greater Exarchia area of central Athens was unraveled by law enforcement officials on Wednesday.

NATO helicopter reported missing west of Kefalonia

A helicopter participating in NATO's Standing Maritime Group Two (SNMG2) was reported missing in the sea west of the Greek island of Kefalonia, according to Greekstate TV on Wednesday evening.

The plane was flying in Italian airspace when it disappeared from the radar.

Italgas says it remains

Italy's Italgas is still very interested in Greek gas distribution network DEPA and is waiting for Athens to publish a short list, the group's CEO Paolo Gallo said on Wednesday.
In February Greece's privatization agency said it had received nine expressions of interest for the sale of DEPA Infrastructure.

Concerns grow about tense migrant camps

Following a visit to the Aegean island of Samos in the wake of rioting and a spate of fires at the Vathy reception center for migrants, Migration Minister Notis Mitarakis on Tuesday described the situation there as "extremely difficult."
