Serbia lose to Croatia in water polo world championship quarters

DOHA - The Serbia men's national water polo team lost 15-13 (4-4, 5-5, 2-1, 4-3) to Croatia at the World Aquatics Championships in Doha on Tuesday evening.

Serbia now go to the playoffs for the 5th to the 8th positions and will first face the loser of the match between Hungary and France.

Serbia sink Montenegro at water polo world championship

DOHA - Serbia beat Montenegro 14-6 (4-1, 2-2, 5-3, 3-0) at the water polo world championship in Doha on Wednesday.

Dusan Mandic led the scoring for Serbia with four goals while Djordje Vucinic, Viktor Rasovic and Strahinja Rasovic each scored a brace.

Earlier, US defeated Japan 18-5 in the other Group C match.

Ankara expresses support for Gaza truce deal

Türkiye's top diplomat has voiced Ankara's endorsement for a new framework deal between Hamas and Israel which would bring about a new humanitarian pause and exchange of hostages.

Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan spoke over the phone with Qatari Prime Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani, late on Feb. 6 to discuss the framework deal created by Qatar and Egypt.

Qatar says Hamas gave 'positive' response to truce deal

Key mediator Qatar said Tuesday that Hamas gave a "positive" response to a truce proposal as U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken toured the region seeking an enduring end to Hamas's nearly four-month war with Israel.

Hamas confirmed it delivered its response to proposals hammered out a week ago in Paris between Qatar and other mediators.

Blinken in Israel for talks on truce deal

U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken was in Israel on Wednesday, where he was expected to press for what he called an "essential" truce agreement as the war with Hamas entered its fifth month.

The diplomat was due to meet Israel's leaders as part of a Middle East crisis tour after earlier stops in Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Qatar.
