Two injured as ferry crashes into Sifnos pier
Two passengers were slightly injured on Wednesday when a ferry struck the pier at the port of Sifnos island in the Aegean Sea.
The accident took place as the Sea Jet 2 vessel carrying 196 passengers sailed into the island's harbor on its regular route from Piraeus to Serifos, Sifnos, Milos, Folegandros, Santorini, Koufonisi, Naxos, Mykonos, Santorini.

Weather to take a turn for the worse, EMY forecasts in emergency bulletin
The Greek Meteorological Services (EMY) has issued a weather bulletin warning forecasting a sudden turn of conditions with topical storms and hail starting on Monday from the region of Macedonia in northern Greece. The phenomena are expected to gradually cover the rest of the country until Wednesday.
Europe's diminishing interest in Turkey
Yesterday Paris hosted a mini-summit to discuss Europe's most important current problem, the migrant issue. Four continental powers - France, Germany, Italy and Spain - were the European participants. France, hosting the summit, also invited the leaders of Chad, Niger and Libya to discuss the matter.

EU countries must spend more on EU-Turkey migrant deal: Commissioner
European Commissioner for Budget Günther Oettinger has said that the EU countries must contribute more money from national budgets to meet commitments under the EU-Turkey migrant agreement.
Oettinger called on member states to stick to their commitments and allocate more than 2 billion euros ($2.3 billion) from their national budgets by the end of 2018.

420 migrants caught off Aegean in one week: Turkish Interior Ministry
A total of 420 illegal migrants were apprehended off Turkey's Aegean coast over the past week, Turkish Interior Ministry stated on Aug. 19. Between Aug. 11 and Aug. 18, Turkish Coast Guards intercepted 420 migrants in nine separate incidents off the Aegean Sea, the ministry said in a statement. It said one migrant smuggler was also detained during the operations.
Greek and Turkish F-16 fighter jets engage in dog fights over Aegean Sea
Turkey continued to escalate its provocations towards Greece, as 14 Turkish military aircraft violated Greek airspace on Friday a day after more violations took place over the Aegean Sea. Twelve F-16 fighter jets, six of which were armed and two CN 235 reconnaissance violated Greek national airspace for 60 times, while another 8 infringements of the Athens FIR occurred.
