EU 'to Extend' Southern Gas Corridor from Azerbaijan

The EU would extend the route for supplies through the Southern Gas Corridor and its pipes will make their way further into Europe's mainland, according to reports.

Russia's Vedomosti, which cites sources from the European Commission, suggests that pipes could lead into France and Spain and this could increase the amount of Azerbaijani gas received from the Union.

Famous football player Vujadin Boskov dies

NOVI SAD - Former football player Vujadin Boskov, who left a great mark in Serbian and Yugoslav football, died in Novi Sad on Sunday aged 83 after a long and serious illness, his family has stated.

Boskov played 57 matches for the Yugoslav national team and was regarded highly as a coach by many Serbian and foreign clubs. He also coached the national team.

G7 'to intensify Russia sanctions'

The G7 group of economic powers has agreed to intensify sanctions on Russia over its actions in Ukraine.

A G7 statement gave no detail of the sanctions, but US officials said they could announce measures by Monday, reports BBC.

Meanwhile, negotiators are trying to secure the release of international observers seized by pro-Russia gunmen.

STUTTGART - Serbian tennis player Ana Ivanovic is through to quarterfinals at the WTA tournament in Stuttgart, after beating Julia Georges of Germany 2-1, in sets 1-6, 6-2, 6-3 on Thursday.

The Serbian tennis player will next take on the winner of the match between Russia's Svetlana Kuznetsova and second-seeded Simona Halep of Romania.
