‘Cat town’ offers pleasant moments for felines

A "cat town" established on a 20-acre plot in the Black Sea province of Samsun is home to dozens of stray cats in the city.

Cats spend their time, eat and play in the cat town, located in an animal care center for helpless and unattended cats.

As the town's number of cats has increased to 150, works are continuing to double the town's size.

Atatürk Cultural Center construction set to be finished in June

Eighty-two percent of the construction of the Atatürk Cultural Center (AKM) in Istanbul's Taksim has been finished. The center has been under construction since Feb. 10, 2019. Architectural works of the structure have been carried out by Murat Tabanlıoğlu, the son of the architect of the first AKM, Hayati Tabanlıoğlu.

Tintin painting sells for record 3.2 mln euros at auction

An original painting by Tintin creator Herge sold for a record 3.2 million euros ($3.9 million) at an online auction on Jan. 14, auction house Artcurial announced.

The item, intended as a front cover for "The Blue Lotus" volume from 1936, easily beat the previous record for the sale of comic book art of 2.65 million euros, which was reached in 2014 for a double-page drawing by Herge.

Hobbit houses in Turkey's east attract tourists

Hobbit Houses in the eastern province of Sivas fascinated the viewers after covered with snowfall on Jan. 14. 

The houses were built by the local municipality with inspiration from the Lord of the Rings movies.

The Hobbit Houses on the slopes of the mountains became a hotspot for photographs and those who wanted a day break from the city.
