Afghan forces retook control of the strategic northern city of Kunduz on Oct.1 after a three-day Taliban occupation that dealt a stinging blow to the country's NATO-trained military.

External trade deficit down by 2.2 percent

Serbia's external trade deficit for the period January - August 2015 amounted to EUR 2.7 billion, down by 2.2 percent compared to the same period 2014.

The Statistical Office of the Republic of Serbia released this data on Wednesday.

Bulgaria's Alarm Siren System to Be Tested at 13h

Bulgaria is to test its alarm system on Thursday, with sirens due to sound in eleven towns and cities across the country.

In alphabetical order, 11 venues are: Varna, Burgas, Kardzhali, Montana, Pazardzhik, Pleven, Plovdiv, Ruse, Smolyan, Sofia and Vratsa.

Additionally, the sirens will go on in places within the 30-kilometer zone around the Kozloduy nuclear power plant.

New Bulgarian App Gives Information on Traffic, Road Incidents

A new application has been launched to give up-to-date information on traffic across Bulgaria, along with other important data, Regional Minister Lilyana Pavlova has said.

Pavlova told Focus News Agency on Wednesday that the new software was created under the EU's Operational Program Technical Assistance.

Bulgarian C-Bank's Supervision Dept. Director General Kordovska Resigns

Neli Kordovska, the Bulgarian National Bank's Director General in charge of Banking Supervision, has stepped down, officials have said.

Kordovska is not taking the respective office at Bulgaria's central bank BNB as of October 1.

Representatives of the institution have announced on the BNB's Bulgarian-language website that a procedure is already underway to pick her successor.
