Deveselu missile defence base operational this autumn (DefMin)

The works at the Deveselu missile defence base are advancing as planned; the military facility will be operational this autumn, Defence Minister Mircea Dusa said on Tuesday during a visit to the Olt County.

The minister mentioned that the works concern the refurbishing and modernization of several buildings, adding the command and control elements, the utilities networks and the access ways to the Romanian military subunit in charge of the guard.
Dusa also announced that the Defence Ministry has already spent 30 million lei on works in Deveselu, and will add 17 million lei to it by September.

According to the minister, the local people in Deveselu also benefited of the decision to place there the missile defence facility, as significant investments were made into the social and utilities infrastructure of their commune ? running water, water treatment, 80 percent of the roads asphalted; the American partners invested in the day care facility and in the school; natural gas supply will be introduced at some point, he added.

Deveselu Mayor Ion Aliman acknowledged the positive change felt by the community over the past three years. AGERPRES
