Ex-MP Plevris leaves ICU after recovering from septic shock

Former right-wing LAOS MP Thanasis Plevris was transferred from the intensive care unit of an Athens hospital on Monday after recovering from septic shock caused by a severe respiratory infection.

The 39-year-old lawyer suffered the infection while undergoing a routine medical procedure last week.

In a statement, medics said Plevris's condition was improving.

Former right-wing LAOS MP Thanasis Plevris is reportedly battling for his life in an Athens hospital after suffering a severe respiratory infection and septic shock while undergoing a routine medical procedure.

The 39-year-old lawyer has been in intensive care since Sunday, while medics said yesterday his condition is "stable but critical."

Artemios "Demis" Ventouris Roussos was born on 15 June, 1946 to a Greek father and an Egyptian mother of Italian origin. He was raised in Alexandria, Egypt.  His parents decided to move to Greece after they lost all of their possessions in the Suez Crisis.

A man who declared on a social networking site that he wanted to kill himself is receiving psychological support at an Athens hospital following the intervention of the Cyber Crime Unit, it was revealed on Wednesday.

Police experts traced the man?s location and alerted the nearest precinct of his intentions, prompting an intervention.
