The government in Athens is planning to implement a single value-added tax rate abolishing all existing exemptions, according to Brussels officials.

Greece reshuffled its bailout-negotiation team in a political move aimed at easing negotiations with EU partners. Finance Minister Yanis Varoufakis was reined in after three months of talks with Greece’s creditors failed to unlock aid and resulted in acrimony at Friday’s Eurogroup meeting.

The European Union won't send armed peacekeepers to conflict-torn eastern Ukraine despite reports of ceasefire violations there, European Council President Donald Tusk said on Monday.

"We can only talk about a civilian mission, not military," Tusk told a news conference in Kiev following talks with Ukraine's President Petro Poroshenko, according to the BBC.

The European Commission plans to significantly revise down its growth forecast for Greece this year, its Vice President Valdis Dombrovskis was quoted as saying on Sunday.

Bulgaria ranked 22nd among the 28 member states of the EU in terms of fund assimilation from the older program period.

The information was released through the online portal of the General Directorate Regional policy to the European Commission.

Bulgaria has improved its ranking compared to the result in March when the coutry took the 24th place.

Government sources said that the negotiations with the Brussels Group are continuing as usual following the return of Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras from Brussels.
