Spokesman Kacin named state secretary for coordination of vaccination logistics
Ljubljana – Jelko Kacin, the government’s Covid-19 spokesman, has been named state secretary at the prime minister’s office tasked with the coordination of the logistics of mass vaccination.
Expert believes STA funding does not require EU Commission assessment
Ljubljana – Lawyer and former Information Commissioner Nataša Pirc Musar believes that the funding of the STA under the most recent coronavirus stimulus package does not have to be assessed by the European Commission because, as claimed by the government. STA’s funding does not constitute state aid nor is there an administrative relationship.
IMAD forecasts 6.6% GDP contraction for 2020, 4.3% growth for 2021
Ljubljana – IMAD, the government’s macroeconomic think tank, has reduced the GDP contraction forecast for 2020 from 6.7% to 6.6% and downgraded its growth projection for next year from 5.1% to 4.3%, the Government Communications Office said in a press release on Wednesday after the government took note of IMAD’s report.
Slovenia Govt Condemned for Cutting Funds to Public News Agency
The Slovene Journalists' Association, DNS, said on Tuesday it was "appalled" by the government decision to stop funding the Slovenian Press Agency, STA, the independent public news agency, allegedly because it did not file the requested documentation to the Government Communications Office, UKOM.
