Scrapping night shift at Thessaloniki customs raises concern
Business representatives are expressing concern over the impact on exports of a decision to eliminate the night shift at Thessaloniki port's customs service.
The Exporters' Association of Northern Greece (SEVE) slammed the "surprise" move by the Independent Authority for Public Revenue (AADE), saying it was incompatible with free market principles.

Almost sixty officials are involved in the four-day operation, which has been codenamed "Trident" because of the three-pronged focus of its inspections.

Debts to state keep growing, topping 101 bln at end-June
Taxpayers' expired arrears to the state soared to 5.19 billion euros in the first half of the year - that is before the heavy tax obligations started in July. At the same time, the monitoring mechanism has been confiscating or freezing about 360 bank accounts per day, although it is increasingly finding empty accounts.
Taxpayers' arrears keep increasing
Taxpayers' expired debts to the state grew by 550 million euros in May, according to data released on Monday by the Independent Authority for Public Revenue (IAPR). At the same time the tax mechanism is increasing confiscations of debtors' assets.
