Turkey’s new foreign, EU ministers take over from predecessors
Minister of EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator Mevlüt ÃavuÅoÄlu was appointed the new foreign minister to replace Ahmet DavutoÄlu, while Volkan Bozkır took over the EU Ministry after the new Cabinet was announced on Aug. 29.
ÃavuÅoÄlu is familiar with European institutions and EU affairs, having remarkable experience in the Council of Europe.

On my visit to Sarısu Beach, the free-of-charge, women-only beach in the southern province of Antalya that has recently caused such a stir, it perhaps should not have been a surprise to see that a Salvador Dali image was the only reference to a male in sight.

Unique figurines found in Patara
Excavations ongoing in the ancient city of Patara in the southern province of Antalya have revealed two figurines dating back to 3,000 and 7,000 B.C.
According to reports, the stone figurines, which had not been discovered in earlier excavations, reveal the connection between the Bronze Age and Anatolian cultures.

Russian citizen in suspected suicide in Antalya
Yekaterina Shmatova, a 25-year-old Russian citizen, was found dead in the southern Turkish province of Antalya on Aug. 11, in a house where she was staying with her Turkish boyfriend.
Police found the dead body of Shmatova in the bathroom, where she appeared to have hung herself using a scarf.
Her boyfriend, identified only as E.E., called the police after finding the body.

‘Interactive’ nature museum to open in Antalya
Turkeyâs first âinteractiveâ nature museum is set to be opened in the southern province of
Antalya, with plants and animals unique to the region introducing to visitors in their own âtechnologically-enhancedâ environment.
The museum will be located in the Termessos National Park with the support of the Mediterranean Development Agency.

Weary Heracles popular in its home after repatriation
The Weary Heracles statue, the top half of a 1,800-year-old Roman sculpture of the mythological hero Heracles that was repatriated to Turkey from the Boston Museum in the United States after 30 years abroad, has now been on display at the Antalya Museum for nearly 1,000 days.
The statue has received more than 400,000 visitors during this period.

'Girl with red foulard' and four other Gezi protesters face up to 98 years
