The Hague Tribunal sentenced wartime general Zdravko Tolimir to life imprisonment for the genocide of Bosniaks from Srebrenica, but acquitted him on appeal of committing genocide in Zepa.

Chief prosecutor of the National Anticorruption Directorate (DNA) Laura Codruta Kovesi said Wednesday that former President Traian Basescu is neither a suspect, nor a defendant in any case built by DNA.

Parliament: Judiciary requests to pass by majority vote of attending MPs
At a plenary session on Tuesday, Parliament decided, 292 to one, that in order to approve the criminal investigation, remanding or pre-trial detention of MPs the majority vote of the MPs attending the vote session will be enough.

Tsatsarov Opposes Plans to Allow Prosecutors to Block Commercial Deals
Any changes to Bulgaria's Code of Civil Procedure that would enable prosecutors to intervene in commercial deals are extremely dangerous, according to the country's Chief Prosecutor Sotir Tsatsarov.
Serb cleared of murdering 11 Croats in Tenja
BELGRADE - The Department for War Crimes of the High Court in Belgrade acquitted Monday former member of the Tenja Territorial Defense Force Zarko Cubrilo of the murder of 11 Croat civilians in Tenja, eastern Croatia, in the summer of 1991.
The prosecution has the right to appeal this decision to the Appellate Court in Belgrade.

BELGRADE -- The Public Enterprise Belgrade Fortress and its partners from Poland are preparing "a unique exhibition of medieval torture devices," Tanjug is reporting.
The exhibition is planned for mid-April.

More than 60 instruments and descriptions of torture methods which served to punish offenders in medieval history will be exhibited at the Belgrade Fortress, in the casemates of the Military Museum.

Bulgaria's Specialised Anti-Corruption Unit Enters into Operation
Bulgaria's Specialised Anti-Corruption Unit, which will tackle corruption among high level officials, entered into operation on Monday.
The specialised unit will be under the direct authority of Chief Prosecutor Sotir Tsatsarov, daily Dnevnik reports.

Bill on right to trial within reasonable time adopted
BELGRADE - The Serbian government adopted late Wednesday a bill on the protection of the right to trial within a reasonable time.
Implementation of this law will improve judicial protection, prevent lengthy court process and inefficiency of participants in court proceedings, the government's media relations office released.
