Stormy weather expected in northwest, central Greece
The Hellenic National Meteorological Service (www.hnms.gr) on Wednesday issued a warning of a shift in warm weather starting in the northwest of the country with rain, thunderstorms as well as snow in mountainous areas.
Bad weather leaves northwest town powerless
Large parts of the town of Ioannina, in northwest Greece, were left without electricity on Wednesday morning after snowfall in mountainous areas and heavy rains that hit the region led to disruptions in the operations of the Public Power Corporation's local network.

One dead, two injured in Thessaloniki ring road accident
One person died while another two people were injured when a lorry veered off its course and crashed against five vehicles in the opposite direction on the Thessaloniki ring road.
The incident occurred on the ring roads Panorama-Pylaia junction.
An investigation was launched to determine the cause of the deadly crash.
City Hall's anti-graffiti campaign reaches Monastiraki
A project aimed at removing graffiti from the city center reached Monastiraki Square on Tuesday, where Athens Mayor Giorgos Kaminis noted that the campaign, which was launched last year, had the goal of keeping the city clean in association with local organizations and residents.
Tip-off leads police to 2 kilos of heroin near Corinth
A police investigation was launched in Corinth in the northern Peloponnese on Tuesday after officers discovered a parcel containing over 2 kilos of heroin in an abandoned building in the Examilia area.
The law enforcement agents, who were reportedly acting on a tip-off, also confiscated a starting pistol, a precision scale and a pair of gloves.
Woman, 43, murdered on Kos
Police on the Dodecanese island of Kos in the southeastern Aegean were investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a 43-year-old woman on Monday.
The victim, a Romanian national, was discovered in a pool of blood by her partner, an Albanian national, in her home in the village of Platani.

Bishop Theoklitos of Ioannina dies
Greek Bishop Theoklitos of Ioannina, who died on Sunday at the age of 83, is to be buried Wednesday.
He had recently been hospitalized at the Ioannina University hospital for an unspecified illness.
Born in 1930 in Thessaloniki, Theoklitos became metropolitan bishop of Ioannina in 1975.

Six Nigrita prison guards remanded in custody
Six guards from Nigrita Prison in northern Greece were remanded in custody on Tuesday after facing Serres magistrate Georgia Toutountzi as part of an ongoing probe into the death of Ilie Kareli, an Albanian prisoner. Another two guards were conditionally released.
