Romanian Pilgrims Flock to Saint's Shrine

Up to half a million Romanians are expected to take part in a three-day pilgrimage to a saint's shrine, which started on Friday.

Believers are lining up in queues stretching for miles to worship the relics of St Parascheva, which lie in the northeastern town of Iasi.

The Romania's Orthodox Church believes the saint's relics perform miracles.

Theatre Festival Turns Romanian City Into Stage

For ten days in June, the Transylvanian city of Sibiu has been an enormous stage, with theatre, dance performances, circus and music taking place all over the city.

Over 2,500 artists and producers from some 70 countries worldwide are presenting 427 events organized in 67 venues from Sibiu, including public squares, churches, historic sites and pubs, as well as in theatre halls.

The Sunday's referendum for the merger of the Western Romania municipality of Oradea with the Sinmartin commune has been rendered invalid, since it failed to gather the minimum presence of 30 percent of the voters, Municipal Electoral Bureau (BEM) President, Justice Ionel Olah told AGERPRES on Monday.

"Still Alive" gets Jury's Grand Prize at 'Tres Court-International Film Festival' Romanian selection

The Grand Prize of the Jury at the Romanian selection of the "Tres Court-International Film Festival" went to the "Still Alive" short film, by film director Mathe Endre-Botond of Targu Mures, for the accuracy of the animation techniques and the atmosphere created, the event's organizers informed on Thursday.

TIMS Symposium dedicated to windmills, nationwide first in Sibiu

Over 100 researchers from 23 countries will participate between June 6 and 14 in the 14th edition of the International Molinological Society (TIMS) Symposium, an event organised as a nationwide first at ASTRA Museum of Sibiu, the main theme being "the preservation and restoration of mills in museums," the organisers announced on Wednesday.
