Not many days ago a bevy of livid members of anti-authority groups with rafters and sledgehammers and with violent intentions conducted a foray at Athens' Economic University's historic building on Patision Street and made their way to the office of the rector, Emmanuel Giakoumakis,  with the obvious aim being to assault and destroy.

Witness in Giakoumakis' trial says victim was punched repeatedly

A woman testifying in the trial against nine former students of the Dairy School of Ioannina on charges of causing grievous bodily harm to classmate Vangelis Giakoumakis - a 20-year-old who committed suicide at the school in 2015 - said she saw the accused punching the victim repeatedly in the face and spitting on him.

Giakoumakis bullying trial postponed

The trial against nine former students of the Dairy School of Ioannina on charges of causing grievous bodily harm to classmate Vangelis Giakoumakis - a 20-year-old who committed suicide at the school in 2015 - was adjourned until June 6 on Tuesday.

The court in northwestern Greece heard from three witnesses, including a classmate who said she never saw the 20-year-old being bullied.

School director given more lenient sentence over bullying suicide

An appeals court hearing the case of the 2015 death of 20-year-old Vangelis Giakoumakis on Monday handed a six-month suspended sentence for negligence to a former director of a farming school in Ioannina, northwestern Greece.

The court reduced an earlier two-year suspended sentence.
