Row sparked over battery electric vehicles on Istanbul islands

Local authorities in Istanbul have imposed a ban on battery electric vehicles on Princes' Islands, a cluster of nine islands in the Marmara Sea, in a bid to curb increasing accidents involving the vehicles and unauthorized parking at pedestrian-only venues.

The ban will come into force starting from Oct. 5 with exceptions for permanent residents who are below the age of 66.

Turkish, Finnish flag carriers sign codeshare deal

Flag carriers of Turkey and Finland have signed a codeshare agreement to expand destinations in networks of both Turkish Airlines and Finnair.

Set to begin on Sept. 29, the deal on flights between Istanbul and Helsinki and beyond will open up new destinations for travelers, Turkish Airlines said in a statement on Sept. 23.

Iran museums reopen after year-long COVID break

Iran reopened museums in Tehran and other cities on Sept. 19 after a more than year-long closure because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

"Museums in Tehran and other large cities that are no longer red-coded, meaning the risk of contracting the virus was very high, reopened on Sept. 19," the director of Iran's museums, Mohammad-Reza Kargar, told AFP.

French slackliner wows crowd with Eiffel Tower performance

Slackliner Nathan Paulin drew applause from a watching crowd in Paris as he completed a 600-meter crossing on Sept. 18 from the Eiffel Tower to the other side of the river Seine.

Paulin, 27, moved along the slackline suspended 70 meters above the ground, at one point sitting and lying on the rope before arriving at the Chaillot Theatre at the end of the half-hour performance.
