Thessaloniki police arrest man on suspicion of attempted rape

Police in Thessaloniki have arrested a 25-year-old man on suspicion of the attempted rape of a 19-year-old woman, who is being treated in a hospital in the city.

On Friday evening, the woman told police that in the early hours of the same day, she was approached by the suspect in the Toumba area, who attempted to rape her and stole her backpack.

Officer shot while looking for thief in western Attica

A police officer of the DIAS motorcycle unit was shot in the abdomen while chasing a thief in western Attica but avoided serious injury because he wore a bulletproof vest. 

The incident occurred on Wednesday night in the industrial area of Aspropyrgos where officers had been called to locate the man who robbed a pedestrian.

Armored car guard held up in Sepolia

An armored car guard was robbed at gunpoint on Wednesday morning while he was loading cash in an ATM located at the entrance of a supermarket in the district of Sepolia, central Athens.

The three suspects confronted the guard, removed the cash boxes and fled with an undisclosed amount, police said. The incident took place shortly after 11 a.m.

Police looking for man for leaving young son at home

Police on Friday were looking for a 42-year-old father accused of leaving his 7-year-old child alone in their house in the northern suburb of Neo Psychiko and taking off.

According to police, the 41-year-old mother of the child left it in the care of her husband, who then proceeded to lock the youngster up in a room and leave the house.

Armed robber holds up foreign cash exchange 

Police on Thursday was searching for a man who robbed a foreign currency exchange in western Athens on Wednesday, removing thousands in different currencies.

The suspect, who had covered his features, entered the store at around 7 p.m., pretending to be an employee of a courier company. He then pulled a pistol and pointed it at the teller demanding money.

Car plunged into water in Thessaloniki

A car plunged into the water in Thessaloniki on Wednesday. Its 45-year-old driver was rescued from the car and taken to hospital in an unconscious state. The car was later pulled out of the water by a crane.

The incident occurred at midday, with the Coast Guard, the Hellenic Fire Service, the police, and divers all arriving on scene.  

Teenagers arrested after woman assaulted and robbed in Kifissia

Police have arrested two teenagers after a 69-year-old woman was assaulted and robbed in the suburb of Kifissia, north of Athens.

The attack happened at around 5 p.m. on Tuesday. The victim was walking along Dareiotou Street when she was approached by the two suspects, aged 16 and 17, who assaulted her.

Bulgaria: An ATM was Stolen in Sofia’s “Lyulin” district

An ATM was stolen last night in the capital's Lyulin district, Nova TV reports. The payment device was pulled out and taken in an unknown direction around 5 a.m. The ATM was located in a 24-hour grocery store. There is no information yet on how much cash was in it. The perpetrators are currently being sought by the police

Bulgaria: A Driver was Detained after a Spectacular Chase with the Police in Sofia

A driver was detained after a spectacular chase with the police in Sofia. The man did not stop for a police check.

The chase started from "Rozhen" Boulevard. The young man ran through three red lights.

Miraculously, there were no injuries, witnesses said. The police managed to stop the car on "Lomsko Shosse" Blvd.
