Police seize 11.5 kilos of cannabis in Kilkis

Police confiscated 11.5 kilograms of cannabis found in a warehouse in Kilkis, northern Greece, belonging to a 58-year-old man who was arrested, police said on the weekend.

The bust was made after sniffer dogs led officers to the warehouse which contained the cannabis in 20 packages.

The man was to appear of prosecutor in Kilkis.

Syrian stabbed during fight at Polykastro refugee camp

A Syrian refugee has been hospitalized after being stabbed in the thigh during an argument at a refugee camp near Thessaloniki, northern Greece.

The refugee was stabbed on Sunday afternoon during an argument with a group of migrants, thought to be of Kurdish origin, at a refugee center in Polykastro.

A 40-year old Syrian-Kurd migrant is in critical condition after reportedly being hit by a police car at Idomeni refugee camp. According to police sources, the police car did not hit the man but he fell off a scaffolding in front of a patrol vehicle. The 40-year old was immediately rushed to Kilkis hospital and then to the ‘Papageorgiou Hospital’ in Thessaloniki.

The Greek army on April 14 staged a double military exercise on its border with Macedonia and an island cluster near Turkey, officials said, amid tension with Skopje over the refugee crisis.
 
"Emergency manoeuvres have been ordered in Kilkis (in northern Greece) and Oinousses (in the eastern Aegean)," an army general staff source told AFP.
 

Desperation takes over in refugee camps – NGOs stop their activities

Refugees and immigrants stranded in Greece see their hopes to continue their journey to Europe fading away, while the living conditions in makeshift camp are getting worse.

In Idomeni tensions boil over, while the health of more than 12,000 refugees is deteriorating day by day. Moreover, several NGOs decided to leave the camp leaving the people with no medical care at all.
