PM says education reform bill ‘addresses problems that go back decades’
Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis defended the government's education reform bill on Thursday saying it "responds boldly to the age-old problem of university security."
"There are regulations that address problems that go back decades, others that address current issues and others that open horizons to the future," he told lawmakers during the debate in Parliament.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan got personal on Wednesday with Kyriakos Mitsotakis, accusing the Greek prime minister of provoking him, urging him to know his limits and making barely veiled threats of war.

MeRA25 says lawmaker was beaten by riot police
MeRA25 party said that its lawmeksr and Vice-President of Parliament, Sofia Sakorafa, was attacked by riot police outside Attica police headquarters on Wednesday evening.
Sakorafa was at the building along with others after a roundup of protesters against the education bill and tried to intervene.

Attica lockdown measures to be specified on Wednesday
The measures that will apply to the administrative region of Attica as of Thursday will be revealed at noon on Wednesday by Deputy Civil Protection Minister Nikos Hardalias.
The minister is expected to provide a detailed picture of how the new two-week hard lockdown will affect life in Greece's capital and its suburbs, the country's most populous region.
Attica to enter two-week hard lockdown amid rise in hospitalizations
Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis announced on Tuesday a near-total lockdown in the most populous region of Greece until February 28 on Tuesday evening, citing a "worrying" rise in hospitalizations in Attica and in the spread of the Covid-19 variants which are more transmissible.
The new restrictions will come into effect on Thursday (Feb. 11).
PM to make announcements on the pandemic on Tuesday evening
Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis will address the nation on Tuesday evening with a message on the pandemic and measures to protect public health, his office said on Tuesday afternoon.
The televised message is scheduled at 7.30 p.m.
