Earlier this month Greek Premier Kyriakos Mitsotakis reshuffled his government. By all accounts there were no major changes and I, watching from afar, did not recognize the names of the new members and thus I cannot comment on their suitability for office. However, the name of the new deputy minister of culture, Nikos Giatromanolakis, did catch my attention due to extensive media coverage.

PM, President remember the Holocaust

Greek leaders on Wednesday marked the 76th anniversary of the liberation of the Nazi-operated Auschwitz death camp in Poland. 

"Freedom, reason and dignity… The very nature of man was murdered at Auschwitz," Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis tweeted.

"Memory must translate into constant vigilance and action against the Absolute Evil," he said.

Greece headed for ‘some normality’ by spring, summer

Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis reckoned on Monday that Greece could return to "some normalcy" at the end of spring or the beginning of summer if the vaccination program remains on track.

Speaking during the online session of the World Economic Forum, Mitsotakis said the supply of vaccines from the European Union will be pivotal, noting that it must be expedited.

Turkey, Greece resume exploratory talks on territorial claims after four-year break

Turkey and Greece resumed exploratory talks on Jan. 25 in Istanbul over disputed territorial claims after a four-year pause.

On Jan. 11, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu invited Greece to resume the talks amid a softening of rhetoric between Turkey and the European Union.
