Slovakia Introduces Curfew amid World Highest Covid Mortality Rate

Slovakia imposes a curfew from today, the country is struggling with the highest death toll from Covid-19 in the world, AFP reported.

Slovaks will not be able to leave their homes from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m., a government decree states.

During the day, citizens are urged to stay at home with some exceptions - visits to the doctor, walking to work and walking pets.

The Minister of Internal Affairs, Lucian Bode, declared on Thursday that he requested reports which refer to the number of fines, but also the applied warnings, because he wanted to know how police officers focus on prevention measures, in the context of the pandemic.

Nearly 30,000 people violate curfews, weekend lockdowns

More than 29,000 people in Turkey violated weeknight curfews and full weekend lockdowns between Feb. 8 and Feb. 15, the country's Interior Ministry has announced.

"The public largely followed the curfew and lockdown measures. But administrative and procedural actions were taken against a total of 29,048 people for violating the rules," the ministry said in a statement on Feb. 15.
