The Greek coast guard and port police rescued dozens of migrants in six separate incidents over the course of less than 24 hours, the Athens-Macedonian New Agency reported on Tuesday.

Thessaloniki sees growth in commercial property activity

Commercial property activity has strengthened in Thessaloniki, the main reference point in the last few weeks being the one-month-old One Salonica mall replacing the old City Gate.
There has also been a rise in activity in the city?s main commercial streets, with new Attica and H&M stores opening on Tsimiski.

Christos Nikolaou, former University of Crete rector, dies
Christos Nikolaou, 61, a former rector of the University of Crete, died in the early hours of Thursday, following complications after undergoing an operation for an aortic aneurism.
A computer science professor, Nikolaou was the founder of the Transformation Services Laboratory.
He served as rector at the University of Crete from 2000 to 2004.
Athens as seen by those who have never seen it
Artists from around the world were challenged to create images of Athens without ever having eyes on it. That was the challenge of “Strange Cities” created in collaboration with a team of curators from London’s Double Decker. Visual artists from around the world were carefully chosen… The only condition was that they should never have visited Athens.

Austrian pensioners arrive on Rhodes for “vay-cay”
Seven airplanes transported a total of 1,500 pensioners from Vienna, Innsbruck and Graz in Austria, to the Greek island of Rhodes.
The specific program was completed due to the efforts of Rhodes Tourism Directorate, Tourism services on the island, and Austrian carriers. The aim was to extend the high-season of the island.
