Ana Ivanovic beaten by Serena Williams in Cincinnati final
CINCINNATI - Serbia's Ana Ivanovic failed to win the Cincinnati WTA Premier tournament by losing to world number one Serena Williams of the United States 6-4, 6-1 in late Sunday's final.
With a performance not on par with her previous matches at the tournament, Ivanovic was incapable of containing her in-form opponent.
Despite the defeat, Cincinnati was a great success for Ivanovic, who will be ranked ninth in the WTA list from Monday.
In a match that lasted 62 minutes, Williams won her 62nd career title - her first in Cincinnati.
The American will take USD 467,000 and 900 WTA points, while Ivanovic won USD 227,000 and 585 points.
