Doğan Media vows support to Kurdish peace bid, while respecting public order
DoÄan Media Groupâs Publishing Principles Committee has reaffirmed its commitment to Turkeyâs Kurdish peace process by "continuing its objective journalism while respecting public order."
Aydın DoÄan, founder and honorary chairman of DoÄan Holding, chaired the Nov. 3 meeting in which top managers of the groupâs companies, including Hürriyet, participated, as well as a number of scholars.
After summarizing the events that affected Turkey and the group since the committeeâs latest meeting in April, DoÄan remarked on the 48 citizens who were killed in Turkey during protests against Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) militantsâ attacks in Kobane, a Kurdish town near Syriaâs border with Turkey. These tensions triggered a debate about the future of Turkeyâs ongoing peace process, he added.
DoÄan also said the group would continue striving to do "objective journalism" in support of the peace process, while "respecting public order." He stressed that DoÄan Media Group was careful to use âpeaceful and calming languageâ while also staying out of political camps and remaining against violence.
