Social Democratic Party (PSD) leader, prime minister and presidential candidate Victor Ponta says there's a 'very clear' resolution to restore the Social Liberal Union of PSD with the Liberals.

This decision justifies the nomination of Calin Popescu-Tariceanu as the future prime minister, Ponta said in Suceava (northeastern Romania) on Friday.

Popescu-Tariceanu is the founder of the Reformist Liberal Party and the former head of the National Liberal Party, the past ally of PSD in the Social Liberal Union (USL).

'The decision to restore the USL and its principles — saying one party has the president and the other party the prime minister — 'is very clear; thus, as Liberals are currently represented by Mr. Calin Popescu-Tariceanu, he will be the nominee for prime minister,' Ponta asserted.

He added that this would be a great advantage, as Popescu-Tariceanu has contributed to USL's programme.

'Mr. Calin Popescu-Tariceanu, who worked on USL's programme, is the guarantee for any rational — and of course common sense — person that the prime minister who introduced the 16 percent flat tax, Mr. Tariceanu, would not change it, as Mr. [incumbent President Traian] Basescu's and Mr. [presidential candidate Klaus] Iohannis's propaganda claims,' Ponta mentioned.AGERPRES
