PM advisor Socol: Economic growth is sustainable

Prime Minister's advisor Cristian Socol says Romania has not been in an economic recession this year; he points out that PM Victor Ponta's government has achieved and inclusive, intelligent and sustainable growth.

'It's the merit of every Romanian our country has the highest rate of economic growth in the EU in the third quarter of this year — plus 1.9 percent. Not only Romania has never been in a technical recession (which is merely a statistic correction), but it has a quarterly economic growth rate six times the EU average (of 0.3 percent). Under Ponta's governing, Romania has switched to a new development model, to an intelligent economic growth. The increase of the Romanian economic potential has been achieved through the transfer from exogenous economic growth — with unstable, volatile growth engines — towards the endogenous economic growth, sustained by engines like research and development, innovation, IT&C, start-ups, technological upgrade, investment in human resources, institutional consolidation, etc.' Socol declared to AGERPRES on Friday.
