Social Democrat Party (PSD) executive chairman Liviu Dragnea has stated on Monday that the Hungarian Democratic Union of Romania (UDMR) continues to support the current governing coalition, fact confirmed by telephone by the chairman of the Union, Hunor Kelemen, to Prime Minister Victor Ponta.

"Mr. Victor Ponta spoke to Mr. Kelemen Hunor and the UDMR continues to support the coalition. He wasn't in Bucharest and the decision for this press conference was made at 13.00, after we left the party", Dragnea said at Parliament, after the press conference attended by Prime Minister Victor Ponta, Senate President Calin Popescu Tariceanu and Deputy Prime Ministers Daniel Constantin and Gabriel Oprea.

The chairmen of the other parties in the governmental arc, Daniel Constantin — the Conservative Party (PC), and Gabriel Oprea — the National Union for the Progress of Romania (UNPR), have expressed on Monday, in a press conference, their support for Prime Minister Victor Ponta.

Deputy Prime Minister Gabriel Oprea, chairman of the UNPR, has stated that the party he represents has not previously taken down a government which it was part of and reasserted his full support for Prime Minister Victor Ponta, in the current political formula.

The chairman of the Conservative Party, Daniel Constantin, has announced that the party remains consequent to its commitments made to the governing partners and to the electorate who cast its votes in 2012, but added that the best methods to "evolve" must be found. AGERPRES
