PM Ponta: Media companies owe budget more than 100 million lei

Prime Minister Victor Ponta talked about a 'brotherhood of tax avoiders' on Monday, providing the example of media companies owing more than 100 million lei (over 227,000 euros) to the state budget. 'If there are abuses of ANAF's [National Agency for Tax Administration] people, these abuses will be definitely punished. On the other hand, I see there is already a brotherhood of tax avoiders. We have also media companies owing the state budget more than 100 million lei. So obviously they're fighting the ANAF, too, to avoid paying taxes and duties. I think it would be only fair if those who criticize would pay their taxes and duties in the first place; otherwise, when one does not pay any tax or any duty, it's so easy to criticize... I mean everybody, from the smallest to the biggest,' Ponta answered at the headquarters of the ruling Social Democrat Party a request to comment the recent ANAF controls.AGERPRES
