Molotov cocktail thrown at Pecat weekly chief editor's house

BELGRADE - A Molotov cocktail was thrown at the family house of Pecat weekly's Editor-in-Chief Milorad Vucelic late on Tuesday, the weekly's editorial board said in a release on Wednesday, condemning the uncivilized act of vandalism.

The editorial board said that the act was an attack on the freedom of expression and the free-minded, patriotically oriented editorial policy of Pecat's that it had followed since its establishment.

"We urge all fellow journalists, domestic and international professional associations and domestic and international protectors of citizens and media freedoms to join us in the public condemnation of the vandalistic and uncivilized attack," the release said.

Pecat's editorial board said that they had confidence in the work of competent state bodies and hoped that perpetrators and instigators of this act would be found very soon.
