President Erdo?an slams HDP co-chair for 'avoiding' call to offer condelences

President Recep Tayyip Erdo?an has criticizes Selahattin Demirta?, co-chair of the Peoples? Democratic Party (HDP), for avoiding a call to offer his condolences following an attack on the party?s rally in Diyarbak?r President Recep Tayyip Erdo?an has slammed Selahattin Demirta?, co-chair of the Peoples? Democratic Party (HDP), for avoiding a call to offer his condolences following an attack on the party?s election rally in the southeastern province of Diyarbak?r.

?What happened in Diyarbak?r yesterday is not against any specific party, but is an act of provocation to over shadow the election,? Erdo?an said in a speech in the eastern province of Ardahan on June 6, one day before the country?s general elections.

Two people were killed and over 100 were injured when bombs exploded ahead of the HDP rally in Diyarbak?r on June 5.

?I called him last night, but he avoided my call,? Erdo?an said, without naming Demirta?. 

?Why don?t you answer, that?s how distant they are. I did my job as a human being, a statement was made by the President?s Office, I made my statement on ATV, A Haber broadcast [during a live televised interview on June 5], I completed my job,? the president added.

In a written statement published by the President?s Office late on June 5, Erdo?an said he was sorry to have learned that people were killed and injured in an explosion during a HDP rally, and called on all citizens ?to be careful about such provocations that target the peace and brotherhood situation in the country.?

HDP co-chair Demirta?, meanwhile, said it was ?not important? if Erdo?an had tried to reach but could not.
