IMF Chief – Greek Economy Minister discuss Greece’s economic recovery

International Monetary Fund (IMF) chief Christine Lagarde told Greek Economy Minister Giorgos Stathakis that the IMF is prepared to work with Greece in the promotion of its agenda of reforms.

Tuesday’s meeting in New York was the first contact that Lagarde had with the new Greek government. Sources say they discussed recent developments in the Greek economy as well as bank recapitalization. Stathakis and Lagarde also discussed the country’s debt and the path towards Greece’s economic revival. The Greek side called for more measures for social cohesian.

Present at the meeting on Tuesday were IMF European department director Poul Thomsen, Greek Ambassador Christos Panagopoulos and Greek representative to the IMF, Michalis Psalidopoulos.
